BIS Shrapnel's latest Residential Property Prospects report suggests rents are expected to rise by an average of 5.8% over the next 3 years...

This should come as not much of a suprise to investors. We have been talking for a while now about the fact that demand for housing has been far outweighing the supply of such housing. Factors such as population growth, migration and a previous period of high interest rates has created a situation where housing availability is tight.

All of these factors are expected to push rents higher into 2010 and beyond says the report.
